All right

A fairly simple gadget, it does what it's supposed to do, and it seems accurate.

The font used is fine, like the shading effect, background color isn't the nicest I've seen, but picking on graphics.

I'm missing seconds being showed from the second format, just minutes and hours showing up, while the other two have seconds as well. Two of the arms on the clock seem to be a bit too long, see they're reaching outside of the actual clock.

Other than that, I don't see the point in this at all, there are other clock gadgets on NG, and this isn't downloadable. It's also pretty large, so it couldn't be used as a desktop clock.

Far too simple

Sure enough, it is an entertaining game, but it's just far too basic.

I didn't feel there was much of a learning curve to it, and the game mechanics were very simple, just never gave me a challenge. Simple point and click, or hold down the mouse. Upgrade now and then, when you've got the money. I only got to the sniper rifle, because I simply grew bored of the game.

The graphics are really simple, and I feel "Shape Defence" is a far too simple idea. Shoot shapes with skulls on them doesn't really get new. The menu looks pretty neat, however, and I like that the options menu is quite simply right there. The general graphics are simple and could do with some work. A health bar, some graphics for the coins, more original enemies. Right now you just get all the different types thrown at you at once. I'd rather see just one enemy the first two or so levels, and then more and more as you go.

As for upgrades, they're very simple. Defense games often have some sort of perimeter defence upgrades of sorts, if you know what I mean. Sandbags, spikes, traps. Simple upgrades that add a lot of variety to the game and change it a lot.

Music is good, but I'm glad you have a mute button. It is fast-paced and action-packed, which is why it suits a game like this very well. Add some sort of achievements to this and I would probably play it just for the achievements. Just add a goal, or something like that, something to work towards.

Original

I'm very pleasantly surprised. I'm usually no fan of TD games, b ut this one had me hooked after the first map. The graphics are simple and really look like some sort of audio editing software. The game is simple to grasp but steadily gets more difficult, which is always nice, a nice learning curve. There's also some nice variety to the music and the interface is clean and inviting. Great game, with a great, original concept. Excellent overall!

Needs work

This game suffers from being repetitive, simple and rather boring. Not to mention that it's impossible to reach the goal you want us to reach.

First off, let's talk graphics. They're really simple, drawn with the pencil tool, I should assume, and though they don't look bad, they certainly don't look good. Everything looks really flat and the coloring is boring. You should try first off making your models better. Though I wouldn't support using the line too for everything, I believe you could've used it for some of the background items in this one. THe animation isn't terrible, but the feet move way too fast and in an unnatural walking sequence.

There is no audio that I could hear, which is a real bad thing. Sound effects and a soundtrack, maybe even a selection of songs you could choose from, is always a nice addition to a game.

The gameplay itself is really simple. You walk back and forth at a really high speed, you jump and you shoot. The jump lasts way long and is far too slow to be used efficiently.

The enemy spawns from behind are terrible to fight. You're really not given enough time to turn around and kill them, as they start shooting before they come on screen, and both the enemies and the bullets move really fast. Jumping doesn't really help either here.

The menu could use a freshener. Different colors, better looking buttons, a background and a nice title would give off a really good first impression. I thought I'd be given a backstory if I clicked the "Why you're to survive" button, but there's no real story to it. It's not necessary, but somewhat misleading with a button like that.

Variations in enemies and weapons would be real nice. Being able to pick up weapons and ammo, and fight different enemies in different stages would really make this game a lot better.

If I had a 60, or 90-day free trial, you'd probably have all those features. ;) Yeah, I guess I forgot to put the backstory in there, but time was running out on my trial, and I had to get it out there before I had a 3/4 finished project on my hands and no way to finish it without shelling out un-recooperative cash on the software. Updates, or a "Remastered Edition" of this game, will come online soon after I can get the full version of Adobe Flash CS5.5.

Simple and nice

A fairly simple soundboard, it does the job and it looks pretty nice.

Menu is real simple. Just the buttons and a nice picture depicting the character the voices come from, the Scout. Nothing needs to be changed right there. Maybe the mute all sounds button could be a bit clearer? I actually missed it for some time, but just found it right now.

The audio quality is real nice, but there is some sort of noise whenever a piece cuts off, might want to fix that for the next one.

Yep, I will try and fix that on the next one. Thanks for the review!

Very cool

A lot of nice things to say about this track, few bad things.

FIrst off, I love the graphics. They're really simple, but really captivating. Especially the colors you've used, I see that a lot of spriters or pixel artists in general often use hard colors without shading and different nuances, but you're pulling that off greatly.

The way you did conversations and monologues was real simple, maybe you should make it possible to press Space to continue the conversations as you don't use the mouse too often. The music got a bit tiring after a while, though it was very relaxing. An option to pause it would be greatly appreciated.

The story itself is nice, it's something new and original, and it's easy to follow. The grammar is a bit off, you should probaly have had someone check your spelling, but you're already aware of that.

Lastly, the hit detection is just a bit off, I can see the robot clipping through for example boxes at times.

EventHorizon responds:

Thanks, you were very kind, I'm glad you liked the graphics also because I've been there a long time to draw it, the pause button is a good idea and I'm sorry about the spelling.

Wow

I feel I can't let you get off easy with this, but it just appeals to me.

Making artsy games is a sure-fire way to get a submission into the portal, but this isn't just a rushed little game, I really like it. The use of music and abstract sounds really makes the game amazing.

The pixel arts is really pretty. It's well done, but the animations could without a doubt be a bit better, like the walking animation. I feel you could've done something more with it. Someone would say that adds to the minimalism of the game.

But really, the atmosphere this game creates is just amazing. Calm and disturbing both at once.

Clever

A pretty good game, with a concept that I haven't really seen before.

Puzzle games easily get boring, but this isn't too bad. It's a bit different with the video puzzle instead of just a flat picture. The music is soothing and relaxing, and has the option of turning it off, which is good. The interface is rather dull, nothing special, and could do with a proper facelift.

The video quality isn't the best either, but seeing as thi is a flash, i can imagine it isn't very easy to get it under the 10mb max filesize.

Not bad

A really decent game, but there are some annoyances.

First off, the music. It loops eternally, and really gets on my nerves after the first five or so minutes. Vary it up, give us a couple music choices, and add sound effects and voicing, if possible.

The graphics are really simple. I wouldn't be smiling when someone told me I couldn't leave the arcade to go home, for example. There's very little detail and shading. It's not bad, it's just a bit boring to look at.

I love the minigames, it's a really neat idea for a game, and this really is multiple games within one. Clever!

Hard to handle

I like the idea you've got here, combining puzzles with some sort of driving game, but it is far too hard to handle the car, and it looks really boring.

My major issue is the handling of the car. The fact that there are different speed levels instead of a proper acceleration makes it hard to handle the speed of the car and avoid crashing into walls. The turning of the car is also quite annoying, seeing as you can't just hold the button down but you have to repeatedly tap, and it barely turns at all on one tap.

The graphics are bland and boring, and I couldn't hear any sound. Some more environment, sounds, and a better looking car, as well as the minigames/puzzles having better graphics is very desirable.

I like it when people call me bro.
