Far too shallow

Sounds more like a WIP IMO.

The track mainly consists of one synth and the drums at any one point. Sure enough the synths change around, but I don't see this as a proper dubstep song. It's very simple. I like the rhythmics you have in the intro, but the intro is waaay too long and dragged out.

I can't really hear the dubstep in this either, the synths not very wobbly and very few parts of the track remind me of dubstep whatsoever. Ending is also dragged out quite a bit.

In general this needs to be fleshed out, as it is now it's barely even a WIP.

This is PlaxXxebuss. Hai. Rasteezus and I have decided to remix another's song if it is bad to back it up. So expect something better within the next while.

Somewhat repetitive

It's not a bad track. Really relaxed and laidback, but there's def something missing.

Main problem for me is lack of variety. Yes, sure, there are synths that come in, transitions and the such, but the beat is mainly the sam throughout, and the synths don't vary much throughout.

This could do really good as backing for a vocal track, in hip-hop or rap, but as a standalone, it feels very naked and shallow, there's not much going on.

Zandarious responds:

Yeah, i know what you mean, theres something missing but it also feels the need of something being taken out as well...

Lower the wobbles

I agree, this is not a bad starting point. I like that you're going for a more fast-paced dubstep, often they're real low pace. You might want to drop the wobbles a bit in pitch, it's a bit high right now.

And of course, add more to this. Maybe a drop before it, though that often coincides with lowering the tempo, so I'm not sure it'd fit.

Just listen to other dubstep and find out whether you want to make it dirty or fast-paced and energetic.

I see.....
Since this was my first dub I was making a loop, but Ill definetly add this in the next song. I thought the wobbles were of high pitch XD. Thanks for telling me otherwise.

Light and entertaining

I have a soft spot for any song that uses piano, especially when it's used this good.

Even though the piano is IMO the best part about the song, I love the somewhat muted synths that act as a backup for this piece, they're subtle, they're really all over the scale and frantic, really filling in any and all empty spaces in this track.

The synths int he middle of the track that somewhat sounds like strings are amazing. Not sure how I feel about the buzzy synth that comes in around 2.15, it's a bit powerful, but sounds great when it's accompanied by the other synths you've been using.

It's abit powerful during the outro too, but it fits pretty well in. It seems like you cut of the piano a bit short, you could probably end this song similarly, but with some delay on the piano to get that echo-effect.

A great track, I suggest you request reviews at the Review Request Club. You can find us on the BBS, under Clubs & Crews (:

ForestKing responds:

Thank you for reviewing the song so well. We will take it close to us and use it when we later are going to modify/update our song to the better. And while you already are here and are suggesting us to request reviews of you: Why don't you review our song F-king Piano in addition to this one?

Hum, yes.

It's not a bad track, and I can hear how you decided not to have much planning. The song honestly is quite the mess. There's a thin line between experimental electronica and just a bloody mess, and this is juuust barely crossing into the messy part of the scale.

I really think it could've done well with some more bass throughout the song. It feels very shallow, like there's not much depth to it. The synths are not bad, but they seem to clash with eachother at times.

I liked the silent part in the middle, that made the song teeter more towards the experimentalism, but the song itself is quite repetitive as it starts right back on track afterwards. it all gets a bit hectic.

I really liked your way of ending the song, though. That was neat.

mhm, i see. like i said, i didn't really plan out everything correctly, but you are right, it's tonality isn't very good, and so i might change some things, like in the description.
and yes, bass has been my greatest problem in all of my songs. i can't find the right amount, and the right loop to fit perfectly. but try to look forward to one of those times. and the repetitive bits were, well, a bit stupid now that you;ve mentioned it.
but its ok. im still trying to get there. im not fully qualified at making music, and there is always improvement that i must reach.

Amazing cover!

Must be one of the most cheerful songs I've heard today. I love this cover version, really well done, and reminds me of playing Marion on the N64 at my friends place. IT's not hectic, it's just really entertaining, fast-paced, with so much fun stuff happening. Really recognize lots of the parts in this song from the game.

The rhythmics you did here were if anything better than in the original and really adds something to it. It does however feel a bit shallow at times, maybe due to a lack of any proper bass. I do hear the bass, but it's so soft and low that it's not very audible and doesn't supply much to the song.

Great cover, loved it (:

Shanath responds:

Ah, thank you. Yeah, I do agree the bass is barely audible with all the other things going on at once. I'd probably try to fix that but my computer takes forever to render songs so it'll probably take a while if I get to that.

Anyway, glad you enjoyed it. :3

Feels chaotic

Not chaotic in a bad way, but like hectic, which is what I'd say fits well to Sonic. I can't say I've played many more hectic games.

Intro sounds just a bit messy, but I absolutely love it when the song starts. The fast-paced piano with the rhythmics backing up, and especially the choir backing.

Also quite like the transition at about 1.00, with the bass sounding synths. The fast paced snare drum really helps bringing the track forward. Not so sure about the hi-hat, though.

This would do great as a boss battle, without a doubt. The piano is pretty much masterful in this track, and really makes the entire thing, so well-done. I love the pace of it all. Even the "slower" parts, if I can call it that, sound hectic and are really enjoyable. Not a big fan of the fade-out, I believe you could've done something pretty cool with the ending on this piece.

Shanath responds:

Yeah, I agree as well. Fade outs aren't really my thing either. I usually try to go for either loops or a proper ending altogether, so this might be something I change in the future for this track.

I also don't like the hi-hat either. I spent a while trying to look for a hi hat sample that actually sounded decent in this and this is the best I could come up with. Not really satisfied by that bit, though.

Anyway, noone's ever used my stuff in flashes so I don't expect that to change but listening to this during a fight, ect would really be amazing.

Thanks for your in-depth review.

I like it when people call me bro.
