Dreamy

Somewhat reminds me of some of the older rock tracks, or simply some new-wave dreamy rock tracks.

I really like the track. the vocals are very good, though slightly off-pitch at certain places, in particular when you push it higher. The drums are fine, but not the most original, and they seem to cut off a bit early, sounding unnatural.

The backing guitar that plays in the back has a simple melody, it's a bit too low, IMO, maybe make it a bit louder. There seems to be some sort of interference on the lead guitar, on the accords that are played. Not sure if that was intentional, but it doesn't sound too good.

Really like the echo effect you put into the vocals, in particular. Brings out the dreamy feeling.

Ending drags on a tad, could've cut it off a bit earlier, not too interesting listening to the hi-hat go on for a while and then the bass playing a couple somewhat random notes.

I'd love to hear this made with a proper band and proper recording (:

Menacing

Sorta reminds me of something out of a faster-paced Terminator movie. The lead synth really sounds robotic, which works in your favor seeing as how this was for Robot Day and how it was about, well, robots.

You've got a mean beat that changes a tad and keeps fresh throughout, pushes the song forward and keeps it alive and energetic. The bass synths do a real good job in putting the lead synth out there, fleshing out the track and making it sound full.

I love the change in pitch of the lead synth at times, and that slight echo you've added to it. The track itself keeps new and doesn't really grow old, ever, throughout the 4 minutes or so of runtime.

Also love the slowing down around 2.10, damn that sounded badass and awesome. Much better than just upping the pitch of the track, which many people do.

Big thanks on the review!!! I like how you feel that it doesn't become old, because I feel as musician that's one of the biggest things to try and accomplish. So I definitely like that compliment.

And yeah, that lead synth is one of the best ones I've ever created and took a long time to get right. So I'm proud that people are liking the sound of it.

Carnival?

I couldn't help but gettin carnival vibes from the intro of this, with the quirky synths.

I loved the heavy bass drum that came in, pushed the song forth through the intro. Real simple rhythmics, helped pushing the song forward.

I get the feel that you could've fleshed this out a bit. It's a real nice track, with the addition of the strings as well it really sounds like a full piece, but it really could do with some "fleshing out" in the shape of the ambient synths in the back. The rhythmics do a good job of it, but they are a simple, and the song does get a tad repetitive.

The outro is a bit simple, I like that you didn't fade out, so it works out nicely considering the simple nature of the track.

The drum beats were easy to make, I was always over thinking them, and this was finally a nice simple piece to put together. I added a nice little echo effect that I was hoping would flesh out the song pretty nicely, but I was probably thinking too simple when I did that. I've been trying to create songs lately that are made with very simple samples and some limitations on how complex I could go. I guess I still need a bit more practice. *sigh* But, thank you for a helpful review!

Melancholic

HEar me out on this.

The track made me feel small, it's big, it's grand, but along with the story, it also made me feel bigger. It's odd, really, having a track that can bring out such completely different feelings in a person, I absolutely adore it.

The composition is quite nice, it's the execution that's my only problem. It's not completely refined in the way that it just sounds a bit off in places, and the piano feels like it's taking a bit too much space. It does sound a tad off-key at times, but nothing too remarkable.

I'm really interested in the whole story-telling factor. It's something I remember hearing/reading in a track I reviewed a couple months back, and it often works out so well and adds something completely new to the track, like another dimension of sorts.

Latin feel

I'm going to have to give you points for originality here. THough I've never heard the original, just the fact that you added some latin/pacific/oriental influences to a video game track is something I've never heard done before.

At first, with the xylophone sounds (or is it clocks?) with the slight echo made me think of a forest scene from an old-school RPG, but the addition of drums and vocal samples, as well as the guitar, made this a proper song IMO. Even though the vocals could do with some tiny amounts of work, they sounded ever so slightly off key at certain pints, it really adds to the track and it's really nice use of vocals.

THe guitars would normally not fit, but they really did work out greatly on this piece. The melody does get a tad repetitive, I'm not sure if you should've changed them up a bit or just leave them as is.

I'm not fond of the fade-out, always a cheaper method of stopping a track. It deserves a full ending to it, with work put into it.

Twone responds:

Thanks for the review! To answer some things:
The vocals sounding off key is no thanks to my voice, that was the best take I could possibly do, although it's not perfect. I didn't want to change the melody at all either, since it's a cover. And since the original doesn't have a set end (on the soundtrack it fades out as well), I figured it would be out of place to end it any other way. Thanks again for your input! :)

Well composed

Seems like someone's going around 0-bombing classical pieces, I don't get why, especially the ones that display talent from the composer.

To me it sounds like you went for a quite epic piece, and I'd say you pretty much succeded, though I'd like to hear more from the rhythmics and the bass section to make it more grand. The strings and flutes/oboes/ clarinetts sounded absolutely amazing. The melody is really flowing well and emphasizes that grand, epic feel of the track.

I'd love to hear you try out some dynamics, even in these shorter songs, dynamics can completely alter the sound and overall feel, and if used right, it can make this piece truly epic.

Stargenx responds:

Thanks for the review! I am working on dynamics, don't worry. ;) I'm sure you'll find that coming submissions are much better.

No doubt

Of course you're fucked, dude. IMO that's what makes you stick out. Controversial lyrics always hit the spot with a lot of people, and piss others off. I'm really not sure if I like how much you play on controversy, but you do it well, I suppose.

Great beat, sick lyrics with a good flow to it. It feels like you're pushing it a bit on this one, with the vocals. Trying just a bit too hard to sound hardcore, and dirty with your voice.

Interesting

I was actually really scared of listening to this with high volume, because these sort of tracks, ambient, glitchy, industrial, dark, often have very high frequency tones in them mixed in with the low frequency.

It's a very interesting project, sampling an old child's show and making such a dark, glitched track of it. I really like the feel you brought out in it, I really got the chills at some points. I especially liked the part around 30, where you got the cheerful carnival-like theme, but dulled down, and suddenly sped up.

I gues the track could go under noise. It feels a bit random at times, like the track that begins after the first song finishes. You said it's a full EP, and it's never easy to review multiple songs mashed together like this, because it feels a bit random.

I feel you could have some better composition, and dynamics really messed me up in the second track, I don't feel it added much to the track as a whole.

sontukmusic responds:

It is a full EP, I just didn't feel like doing any track separation.

Damn

Awesome track you got there. Has a lot of whomp to it, which I'd call a necessity to any house track.

Sweet beat to the track. Constantly thudding bass with a nice sample is always nice, and the general rhythimcs of the track are really awesome. The light synth is pretty cool, but it can get somewhat repetitive, even though you highten the pitch quite a bit at around 2.30.

Ending is really well done, but it drags on a bit, starts at about 3.20 and lasts the full 20 seconds to the end.

Assios responds:

Thanks, glad you liked it! :)

Sweet

This is an awesome jam. I can put this on repeat for an hour or two, easily.

Always nice to hear someone mess around with something new. It's varied, but never random, the synths are awesome, the melodic line is really damn good, the rhythmics could do with just a bit more variation, but the track is really cool either way.

InvisibleObserver responds:

Thanks sweetums! Your words fuel my self esteem.

I like it when people call me bro.
