Interesting piece

Soundscape, eh? I really like the idea you've got here.

The intro is pretty amazing. Very atmospheric and sets the mood for the coming track. The buildup is quite quick and starts the song off amazingly. I really like the use of sound effects here, giving the hole thing a jungle feel, drums helping out.

Some of the synths are reaaally high pitched, to the point that it actually hurt. I'm using headphones to listen to music, that might be why.

The bassline is always there in the back, but never taking over the track, rather playing the supportive role.

I really like the entire feel the track gives you. Relaxed, mellow, chilled. Very nicely done. Definitely going to look up more music of this kind.

Yep. I know about the high synth problem. That should be fixed, I'll try fixing up the frequencies so it's not as bad.

I do hope to be making more pieces like this one. They're quite fun to make, and very... mesmerizing if done right.

Thanks for the review!

Exhillerating

I'm pretty impressed with this, especially considering it's your first DnB track.

The entire track is quite fast-paced and has an energetic feel to it. Up until about 1.10, it feels a bit naked, but with the melody synth playing on top of the backing bass synth and the drums it sounds real good.

I really liked the dubstep elements you sneaked in. The wobbly bass sounds real good.

I still think some parts feel a bit naked and slowed down. The track wouldn't be worse off with a couple BPM extra.

Oh, and the build at 2.30 is so damn cool.

I can see that

Just the track itself is amazing, but to see that it's improv and that it's all based around such a story, I'm sort of at a loss for words.

I think what I like the most is the use of dynamics. A lot of improv tracks really lack that, but you did it with seeming ease. It's absolutely stunning.

Apart from a few notes that sound a bit off, I can't say there's anything wrong with this track. Love it.

Hi,
Thanks for the review :)
In a way I am glad that there are a few notes off here and there, otherwise people might not believe me that it was an improv. ^_^

Fortunately I recorded this piece digitally and so I might go back and clean up some of the notes here and there, and then upload the refined version for sale on bandcamp.com

Thankyou again for the review, it is most appreciated.

It works all right.

Very neatly done track. Too bad it's been 0-bombed.

I like how this sounds, it's something a bit different from what I mostly find on the Audio Portal. I like the rhythmics, though I think the samples you used might have a sound that is a bit sharp, intrusive to the song.

The synths that are used to back up the track sound really good, floating and fleshing out the track, making sure it's never naked.

The high-pitched melodic synths and the lower-pitched ones both have great sound to them. Really well done on this one.

Interesting

While the first half of the song easily sounds like video game music, the second part feels more like a proper electronica song. Not sure how I feel about the synth that comes in. It's not bad, it just feels a bit out of place from the previous part.

The change just feels a bit random. I'm not sure where you could use this track in a video game either.

Either way, a pretty cool tune.

Pretty cool

It's far from perfection, but it's a nice track.

The intro drags out for waaay too long. Felt like it was building up forever, and even when the bass came in, it felt like it was still building. There's no proper thudding bass here, feels like the discant is just taking over the track.

The entire thing feels a bit shallow, you could easily add some layers to it with rhythmics and bass.

lol i know its shallow among other things but thanks fer your time XD

God damn

Can't find any faults in this one. Initial drop is fucking wack.

Some amazing wobbles here, lowing the higher pitched synths and the piano at about the 1 minute mark.

Such great rhythmics section as well. Love the fading in of the wobbles after the piano section. Extremely awesome drop there, with those elecrtic-sounding wobbles.

Very uncertain

I'll give you points for originality, but take points for the random nature of the song.

I am, to be honest, sick of people making completely random music and trying to get off with saying it's an experiment with music, something new, progressive or different. It's not a very good excuse IMO.

This sounds more like random bleeps and bloops with a dulled down rhythm in the back. The synth gets annoying rather fast, and the sound levels are not very good, I had to turn my headset up and down throughout the track to get it all.

The song has it's moments, like with the simple synths playing melody towards the end. That I somewhat liked, it worked very well on top of the rhythmics and with a simple bass synth.

The ending was also quite interesting, I'm glad you didn't just fade it out.

I guess it could go for some sort of glitchy industrial noise music, but I don't see the quality in it. Sorry.

kahnor111 responds:

Well, I'm glad you were mature, and constructive on your comment. I've been thinking of redoing this song, with a bit more matching instruments. This was more just me f-ing around in FL studio as a distraction from work. But, I will take what you have told me in this review, and I'll try to improve with it. You have a fantastic day!

Hah, clever

Can't say I'd ever imagined something like this. Apart from some notes that seem somewhat out of tune, it's a pretty damn cool track. Can't say it's a chilled track, feels rather like I'm high on something and the world's slowing down.

Liking it.

None too shabby

The male voice is really good, pretty impressed with that.

I'd love to hear something more going on in this track though. At times it's only the drums and the bass synth playing, something more to back it up would be really nice, at least during parts of the song that sound oh so empty.

I like it when people call me bro.
