Ah man, one of the better video game/8-bit tracks I've heard in a while. I could easily see this in a Scott Pilgrim vs the World-style game. Or in the credits. =D

Very well composed. I really like the rhythmics in it, and of course, the synths are so damn good. The high pitched buzz synth that plays the main melody through large parts of the song is well written. Drum samples are very good. I'm glad you didn't overdo the beats, often happens in tracks of this style.

Also like the bass synth that follows throughout the song, and the drop/breakdown around 2.40 or so. Really nicely done with the slowed down tune, adds another level to the track. I feel it ended a bit sudden, chopped off, maybe work on the ending a bit. Intro was neat, very 8-bit.

thanks for the review, glad you liked it. as for the ending, it was SUPPOSE to fade out but for some reason newgrounds would not let me upload that version. so I had to upload the one before I made the fade out. kinda lame but it's whatever.

really appreciate the review and glad you liked it.

Deep

Not a bad loop. It just... doesn't seem like a proper track to me.

Sure enough loops don't have to be long, but this is a very simple loop that can be made in FL in a matter of minutes. You've got ambient bass in the back, melodic bass for the melody, bass thudding and the pretty dark snare. Really simple 2 second loop. It loops nicely, but it also feels abit cluttered, a bit too much going on. Too much bass?

Try making som elonger loops. This alone can't really be used in anything other than other tracks as is, it wouldn't work out as background music for a menu or a game of any sort.

Chills

Well, this is something I'd never expect to hear on Newgrounds. A proper, relaxed track of this sort. Gives me the chills.

The guitar is really simple, simple chords and structure is really nice and simple, which I'd say goes very well with the slowed down and calmed style of the track. I like your use of the flute and piano. Your voice is soothing, which feels sort of weird with these lyrics. Lyrics: Well written, a bit repetitive, but carries a pretty strong message, that fits the song.

You did very well in varying the track throughout, and I love the overdub and echo on the vocals. Really adds to the atmosphere.

Nice track, love it. The flutes actually somewhat reminded me of the flutes in The Beatles' Strawberry Fields Forever. Always a good thing.

Cheers, man. I appreciate that.

The verse lyrics have been written properly now so therey're not repetitive.

The 'Strawberry fields' flute is from a great little plugin called Meltron. Couldn't live without it!

Thanks for the review

Impressive

I have to say that I was skeptic at first. The synth is somewhat cheesy, a very popular-sounding synth in this kind of music.

The beats instantly reminded me of hardstyle tracks, but when you added layer upon layer upon layer this sounded more and more like something with a serious, proper composition. It has some amazing variation, the melody is very steadfast and impressive, nice use of volume control as well.

Like i said, amazing variation. A problem with a lot of tracks like this is that they get stuck in a loop, this was very interesting, with buzzed bass and a blooped synth taking over around 2.20. Really like the transitions.

Drums are really nice, keeps the fast pace up and pushes the song forward. Impressive piece, all in all. I sincerely believe it deserves a better ending though, the fade-out seems like a cheap way to end such a well composed track.

thanks for your review soapbubble! im glad you enjoyed my song, well for the end, i wanted to end the song like the 80's, but i now i know i can't limit myself with my taste, i mean, if i want the song to be enjoyable for everyone, i have to make it enjoyable for everyone. thanks again for the review, these kind of reviews makes me keep my work, finally, thanks again.

A tad messy

I really do get that the rhythmics are supposed to be like that, somewhat off-beat, but I don't feel it works out completely. It might fit the theme slightly.

I can absolutely hear the pirate theme, even through all the MIDI, which actually quite impresses me. The drums aren't bad, but the samples aren't the best, you could look into that.

Could work well in the background of a rather simple pirate-themed game, I think (:

Thanks for the review!

Yeah, I might have exagerated on the counter-rythmes, I wanted it to feel a bit spanish, I guess it didn't turn out so well...

As for the MIDI and bad samples, I'm unfortunately stuck with Reason's basic refills ATM, so I guess you'll have to endure until I can manage a budget...

Again, thanks for the review, I accept all criticism!

Mashed up

Really interesting track you've got here. i like the sort of mashup of multiple genres, stretching from the hip-hop beats to the slightly wet dubstep bass, aaand of course the classical piano and strings.

The melody is so, so good. In general, the entire composition, this sounds like a real proper song, with really wel done mastering and production. There's so much going on, and nothing really feels out of place. I'm not a huge fan of the drum samples, though, but that might just be. Just feel they don't really fit in too good, a bit too sharp.

The transitions are really well done as well, very smoothly going from one segment to another. The song is varied and original, don't really feel it gets old at any points, and not really repetitive, which can be hard with such a long song. Long compared to the average on NG, at least (:

Cheerful

One of the better Dance tracks I've heard. It does suffer from being somewhat repetitive though.

It's got a fast and steady beat with an upbeat feel to the track in general. As I said, it is somewhat repetitive, a common problem with dance tracks IMO. Your synths were of high quality, apart from the slightly wet bass at the beginning (which was a bit loud), the entire composition sounded fairly well-done.

A bit of a cheap ending, IMO, not exactly a fade-out but the song didn't feel like it had ended properly.

Sure to make feet move on the dance floor though.

Menu theme

I believe this could go well as a menu theme, but I'm not sure why you decided to add on a fast-paced synth towards the end. Without that it would be a good loop and it could've worked very well on a menu screen.

Those five or so seconds somewhat ruined that feel, though, which I find somewhat sad.

Hi Soupbubble,

I've just started to play around with short loops...trying to toss one out a day within 15 minutes or so, so it's just a progress; your feedback is helpful :) Thanks

I like how this isn't just your average, dull, dubbed-down wobbled-up dubstep. It's got elements of other genres as well, all cluttered together. And it works out pretty well.

The production isn't the best, but that is honestly the only thing I can think of that is bad. Maybe the BPM could be just a tad lower, always nice with low BPM in dubstep. The buzzed synths are fucking amazing in this piece. The rhythmics are consistent and helps bringing the track forth, but as I said, BPM could be just a tad lower during drops/after drops, and in general.

Other than that, just experiment more with it. Don't make bland shit, make stuff like this and throw in whatever you can think of to the mix.

My next dubstep song will have a folk rock style banjo solo. :P

I like it when people call me bro.
