Banger indeed

Really like this one, in spite of the somewhat slow and dragged-out intro, it really delivers once it first kicks in.

The bass is steady throughout, and drives the song forward during the parts where little happens. The rhythmics samples in general are pretty good, I really like your buildups as well, in particular around the 2-minute mark. Really like the beat and synths used in this segment.

Simplistic

I haven't really heard the original properly (never was too into Zelda), but as a standalone track, this is pretty simple and pretty good.

If you only listen to the strings that play the melody, it's a bit repetitive, but there are the strings playing the bass and at times the track just seems to blow up with more sounds, it's really amazing.

It gives off that mysterious forest feel that I believe you were going for.

I'd still like to see it fleshed out. It might've been this simplistic back when it first was made, but that's no reason for you not to flesh it out and try to modernize the track a bit while remixing it. It's a bit shallow, apart from the bass and melodic strings there's not much going on.

Horsenwelles responds:

in the original it was ridiculously difficult to derive a melody from it because of its ambient design. with a 7 from an incredibly criticized review, i cant believe what you would give the original ;)

thanks though :)

Interesting

Not sure how big a fan I am of this electronic jazz style, but the composition is pretty impressive.

My main issue is the midi-like sounds, I've never been a fan of it and I really don't think the sound fits for something experimental and jazzy like this, it just gives it a video game feel.

The rhythmics are very nice, they're not too loud and never really push the song forward, they just flow along. Track also loops very well.

Hi Soapbubble, glad to see you're back in the RRC!

This is actually NOT electrojazz, everything you hear is made from actual instruments. The two comping instruments are a modulated guitar and a B3 organ.

As for MIDI instruments, I'm not sure I get, since it's all high quality recordings... maybe it isn't humanised enough...

Anyways, glad you enjoyed nontheless, I'll do my best in the future to humanise so you'll be ok with it!

Cheers

Not bad

Writer's block sucks, I can imagine it being equally annoying to an audio artist.

Fun composition on this one, quite the cheerful track, which makes me feel the buzzed synth doesn't fit perfectly in. A buzzed synth in itself isn't bad, just this particular one should be switched out with something that sounds a bit less heavy.

Love the addition of piano, and the fact that the song as a whole just broadens towards the end and becomes a more fleshed-out track. Too bad it's so short.

My problem is finding the right instrument to use, b/c nothing sounds like what I'm thinking of.

The buzzed synth you hear is the only one that I think works as a good bass. All the others sound kind of hollow/strange. I'm trying for a blend of jazz/techno.

The piano you hear here is absolutely all I can think of for this one. That's what's bugging me.

Thanks for the review!

Bit more bass

Not a bad DnB track, but could do with some work.

it has a nice structure, absolutely, and the synths used are very good, but it really lacks one of, IMO, th emost important parts about DnB tracks, that extra oomph. I'm talking bass line and bass drums. The drum synths you are using aren't the best, might want to look at getting better, and I'd love to hear more of a bassline, apart from the buzzing synth.

Really liked that you had a part with strings and a flute, threw me off at the beginning, but the way you transitioned back into the track was just brilliant.

Kieda responds:

The drums are just the VEC drums, with the best mixing and stuff I could possibly do (which ain't a lot).

I am not a pro in basslines, but I'll try to create better bass and basslines in future songs (:

Dreamy

Somewhat reminds me of some of the older rock tracks, or simply some new-wave dreamy rock tracks.

I really like the track. the vocals are very good, though slightly off-pitch at certain places, in particular when you push it higher. The drums are fine, but not the most original, and they seem to cut off a bit early, sounding unnatural.

The backing guitar that plays in the back has a simple melody, it's a bit too low, IMO, maybe make it a bit louder. There seems to be some sort of interference on the lead guitar, on the accords that are played. Not sure if that was intentional, but it doesn't sound too good.

Really like the echo effect you put into the vocals, in particular. Brings out the dreamy feeling.

Ending drags on a tad, could've cut it off a bit earlier, not too interesting listening to the hi-hat go on for a while and then the bass playing a couple somewhat random notes.

I'd love to hear this made with a proper band and proper recording (:
