Smooth

A very smooth, fluent and pretty big jam.

Love the bluesy feel throughout this jam. Not exactly one of the most popular genres on NG, so don't be expecting too much of a response from the community.

I like this, it's refreshing, and even though the audio quality isn't the best, it has some charm over it, the lo-fi feel of it. It feels very large, not sure how to describe it.

Anyway, a real cool jam. You should try getting a proper little band together, or at least a bass and vocals to jam along with.

Cheers

Thanks again. Rest assured quality will be fixed. Have plans afoot for some 'Band Jams' stuff coming soonish, big hopefully here. But nothing solid just muso's jamming. Some promising vocal prospects waiting in the wings. As for the Bluesy feel in this one, we were just trying to mix things up a bit. Show some variety. Thanks for another great review. Much appreciated.

Cheers gamejunkie.

A bit shallow

It's not a bad track, it has good rhythmics, nice progression, but it feels somewhat shallow at times and it doesn't have the best composition.

By shallow I mean that there's lack of something backing it up. There's the synth, the piano, some bass and the rhythmics. Some sound effects to go in the back, an ambient synth that flows with the beats, it would do wonders for it. When the piano comes in, it sounds a bit off key as well. The silence at the end you really need to cut off.

Thanks for the review! I don't know how to make my songs less shallow, honestly :/
I don't think the piano is off key but thanks anyway!

Quite the epic piece

In the proper definition of the word epic, that is.

I can hear that a lot of work went into this. The composition is quite amazing, and I can't really find anything I don't like.

The piano intro was amazing and really gave me shivers. Really set the entire scene for the boss battle and the song to come. I love the piano reverbs throughout the song as well, they really fill in a void that would've been really bugging me if they were not there.

The rhythmics are pretty cool, but I'm not too sure if you should have such a loud kick in a boss battle. Tunes like that are more often ominous, and I feel it just take a bit over from the bass MIDI tones.

The strings are also quite amazing, just stunning. I can imagine a really hectic boss battle going on here.

Not too sure about the guitar. Mainly because I don't like the sound of it, way to electric and metallic to fit into the song very well. I'm guessing you used the built in. Well, I know, from the description.

The outro and ending is very good, but again the kick kind of kills it a bit for me, it's just a bit too loud IMO.

SkyeWint responds:

Thankies! The guitar is slightly off, I admit, but I do enjoy the riffs that it plays.

I may lower the kick a bit in the parts without a soloing instrument and reupload it.

The piano was a real hard part to get right. I had to equalize it several times before it didn't take over the whole thing, I played it on a different set of speakers once and it was pretty much all that could be heard. Which, well, sucked.

Anyway, thanks again for the review. ^_^

Well composed

Not a bad track. I see where the title comes from.

My main issue is that it sounds a bit shallow. There is quite a lot going on, but in a track like this, it's always nice to have something thick to back it up, like synths playing in the back, throughout the track, ambient noises, something like that. I loved the melody of the synths, it's very intricate, feels all over the place and progresses throughout the song.

The drums aren't bad, the rhythms and beats you cooked up were pretty good, but the samples you've used are not the best. Especially the snare sounds fairly bad.

The track seems to drag out juuust a tad as well. At least the beginning is really slow. I love the sound the synths have at around 3.30. Feels like Daft Punk for a moment there :P

Really liked the outro and ending, just right ending to the track.

ErlendHL responds:

Thank you for the review! You're a great reviewer! :D I will keep your feedback in mind next time I make a song =)
I will try to find better samples (free...), and maybe experiment with having something "deep" beneath everything else.
Btw. norwegian WOOH!

Holy shit

I'm always skeptic when I'm about to listen to dubstep tracks on NG, because it's almost always some boring, unoriginal shit. But holy fuck dude, this shit really is quite... ehm, even though I hate saying it, it's quite filthy.

The wobbles you used are so damn good. Seriously. Though I could've done without the vocals in the track, I don't feel they fit very well in, the higher singing. But god damn those breakdowns. God damn.

Damn

Dat intro! :B

But really, I loved the intro, shit got me hooked from the start to end of the track. Loving it.

The beat in the back, the drum samples, amazing, and the dynamics you used with them are pretty good. Synths you picked out are great, and I love the inclusion of the piano.

Track never gets boring, always something going on, and it never gets repetitive. Just all-round fun, dude!

F-777 responds:

Thanks so much man!!!

Awesome beat

I'm not sure if your samples are the best, but the beat here is really amazing. Loving it.

Here's to hoping someone has neat lyrics to voice over the beats, that would def be sick.

Ending drags out a bit though.

Very grand

Despite the toned-down nature of this track, I see it as an extremely large, grand track.

It's not that it's a very emotional ambient track, it's just that it brings out the feeling of being so tiny, and only being a part of something huge. It's really rather amazing. The sounds you've used open up the universe to you, creating this atmosphere I can't say I've heard in any NG track before.

The strings you've used to fill in the background music are just perfefct and fit so well alongside the synths you've used. I love it. Nothing to say on this track for me.

It is always a pleasure to read what other people interpret from my music - each person has a slightly different perspective and it fascinates me to see how many different ways a single piece of work can be looked from. For example, I hadn't realized how insignificantly microscopic this piece makes me feel, until you mentioned it.

Thankyou for the review & your insight,

Very smooth

I could easily sit down by the sea listening to this in the evening.

The composition is really good. I'm not sure about the sax samples you used. If you recorded it yourself, I have to say they sound a bit too harsh for this sort of romantic, ambient track, a bit rough and harder than they should be.

The track is also a bit loud considering the theme of it all. I love the background synths, and the laidback drums are fitting.

the track gets quite repetitive though, which is a rather big problem. You should try varying up the melody a bit more.

MeteorManMike responds:

Yeah, the sax was a sample that came with my software. It was the best I had.
I'll have to take a bit to think of an extended melody line. Can't just throw some random crap at it and hope it sounds good, it usually doesn't :P
Thanks for reviewing!

Very corny

A really neat track. I catually do hear where the carnival theme comes from.

You could actually have pumped the bass up just a tad, at least during the intro.

i really liked the beat in this track. It's consistent at just the right pace for the melody to keep up. Never overtakes by being to loud, just pushes forth.

The bassline is pretty good, synth you used are pretty badass and really fit the theme. The whispers or whatever they are at certain points in the song are a bit loud and sting a bit in the ear.

I didn't really like that you basically removed the bass entirely about halfway throughout the song. It really stripped the song. i know it's supposed to be a transition of sorts, a pause at the middle of the songs, but you should add some ambient bg sound then.

lxNikMxl responds:

I'm taking that "corny" joke as a compliment <_< haha. I see what you're saying about the really loud sweeps, or synths, that hurt the ears. During some playbacks it was fine, and during others they really screeched. Maybe its the samples... Perhaps I'll have to fix this song up a bit too. Anyway, thank you for reviewing!
