Nice intro

Great buildup towards the beginning of the track, sounds really good, and really gets the track started the best way possible, IMO, however, it might be going on for a bit too long before the track itself starts.

Around the 1.30 mark, when the beats hit, the track just jumps to an entirely new level. Amazing beats and a really catchy melody to it with some great synths, even backed up by some backing synths and with the rumbling bass synth.

It might be a bit repetitive for some, but this is absolutely the kind of music I'd like to hear at a club. The ending sounds somewhat odd though, very different from the track itself, and it drags out for some time.

Thanks for the comments. I myself thought it was rather repetitive, but I didn't want to change too much. I might change the ending, but that's not for certain. Thanks again for the review :)

Nothing new

Simple and just fine dubstep track, but I don't feel like it brings anything now to the genre at all.

It's a bit repetitive towards the end, the wobbles are pretty good and I do like the minor drops. It's nothing too heavy, more friendly to the ear than a lot of the dubstep on NG. Nice intro building up to the track, which is most always a good thing.

The synth for the melody is pretty good, especially during the drops, love the sound with that buzz to it.

But what pulls this track down for me is that it's nothing new, and it gets rather dull towards the end.

I have that problem a lot, I start off taking my time with a song and by the end of it I'm so sick that I tend to become lazy and just loop things, oops. My patience is growing however, so I don't think this will be as much of a problem in my future songs. Thank you for the review!

Okay

First off, I don't really think this fits very well under industrial.

It's not a bad track, but it's somewhat dull to listen to, especially considering the drums are the same. Throughout the entire track. And it just got on my nerves.

The synths aren't bad, though the electric guitar-sounding synth you used for the main melody during some part wasn't the best for the track. It also sounds like the entire track is a bit too loud, as I get some minor interference on it, some noise in the back.

The bass synth is also very repetitive, which also gets really annoying after a while. The ending, lastly, I don't like. it's a simple fade-out with no real ending to the track.

Not bad

I'm not entirely sure about this piece, but it's certainly technically quite good.

First thing I noticed was your excellent use of dynamics, combined with the instruments used, and the symphonies. Obviously labeled as a classic track, but it's influenced by some newer fast-paced style with a dark feel over it. At least that's the feel I got from it. Even the lighter part sounds eerie.

It does, however, sound a bit messy at times, and somewhat out of tune. It seems like you just tried to put too much into the track and it somewhat backlashed.

ErlendHL responds:

Thank you for the review! Yeah might be something a little different from classic music. I could sounds messy because of the long piano sample. Like playing a song with many notes with the right pedal down all the time. I'm not good at finding decent samples nor editing them...

Heavy

Pretty good track, nice progression and a sick drop.

The production seem to be a bit off, though, getting some interference on the heavy wobbles which isn't very flattering to the track. I wouldn't say the intro is too long, just that the track itself can easily get a bit repetitive, particularly towards the intro.

You've really gone for a really heavy style, and I'm guessing it's sort of my fault that I don't have the proper speakers for something like this. I'm really getting a lot noise on the heavy wobbles and heavy bass synths. Might be mastering or might be my headset, but I got the same result with speakers and headset.

As mentioned, it's a bit repetitive, but it's a really heavy (maybe even too heavy?) and really nice dubstep track. Ending is pretty good, too, nicely ending a track like this.

GirlStep responds:

That's weird, it sounds fine on my speakers. I guess I need to start listening to songs on several different sets of speakers/headphones to make sure it sounds fine on all of them.

Thanks for listening and enjoying our song!

Very well written

I think the best part of this track is the dynamics and the transitions + buildups. Overall a very well written and executed track.

You've got a really good intro to the track, it gives visions of what's to come further in and builds up greatly, with layered synths and great rhythmics to keep the track rolling on. There's a steady beat and the track never gets repetitive though it still is varied.

Your transitions are, as I mentioned, very well done, really bridges the different parts together well. Synths are pretty good though the main synth gets a bit annoying in the higher pitch. Ending isn't too bad, though a bit sudden, feels as if something's left unexplained.

Whoa

I'm pretty amazed at this track, brings out intense fear as well as just an overall creepy feel, really goes well with the theme of the contest, and it definitely deserved a second.

I'm not sure exactly how to review this. I love the industrial sound of the whole track. The vocals really fit the track, and the lyrics are really well written, really creepy. I like that they got to dominate so much with little to interfere, that really brought out the creepy feel.

Intro was pretty good and freaked me out, reminds me of a carnival themed zombie flick I saw some months back, and the kids vocals was a really nice twist. The voice saying run had some interference to it, not sure if that was intentional. Ending was a bit abrupt, but not bad.

Just to let you know, Your reviews are always awesome :) I'm gonna reply to this properly in a bit ^_^

Edit: I'm back from holiday now ^_^
Well thanks, I'm happy that I got 2nd place :D I had a great time writing the lyrics for this. Lots of underlying hidden meaning in them too.

I'm glad that the intro freaked you out - that was my intention :P
The run bit was indeed filtered a little bit to make it sound less human, and the ending was made to convey a sense imminent danger lurking all around you, silently.

Impressive

You had me from the intro on this one, a really great piece.

The intro is just great, it builds up perfectly and is a sneak peek into what's coming your way in this track. Synths are great, and I love the piano playing as well. The backing synths and ambient sounds in the back really help flesh out the entire track. It's really fast-paced, with pounding rhythmics that make sure it stays at the same pace.

There's some nice variation with really nice transitions between sections. The ending was really good, IMO, going out with a bang is always a nice way to end an explosive track of this kind.

In the blind

Now, I have never heard the original for this rendition, so I''m gonna have to review it as a standalone track.

And I don't think it's too bad. It's quite reptitive, but I know Luigi's Mansion has something to do with ghosts, and I feel the track really relays that. However, the strings are so high-pitched it kind hurt my ear at times, which is never a good thing. The rhythmics that joined in were pretty cool, but they somewhat ruined that feel, making it more of a joyful track, joking around.

The track loops pretty well, not really much to say on that.

Not bad

It's heavy-hitting, for sure.

The intro drags out a bit, with only that thudding kick and soon enough the bass synth. You do add a couple layers as you move along, but the song itself doesn't start till 45 seconds in, which is a bit late.

After this though, the track seems to explode. The kick is still very much in focus, until the higher pitched synth comes in. It really feels like a track that describes how it's like being high on speed, or something similar. The melody seems to be a bit off-pitch at times, though that might just be me.

The synths are really good, and according to the genre, the kick sounds good as well, all working towards a hardstyle feel. It does feel a bit repetitive towards the beginning, but this, of course, changes quite a lot. You've got some really cool transitions between parts, and I like your use of vocal samples as well. In spite of the diversity in the track, it still has that same feel to it throughout, making it feel repetitive.

Dj-GST responds:

That's typical intro length for this genre, but I'll shorten it a bit next time.

It's probably like being high on weed haha, because that's how I was making this track :P

Not Hardstyle. This is Freeform Hardcore, which is UK Hardcore with a very heavy influence of Trance music.

Thanks for your review.

I like it when people call me bro.
