Light

Looks a bit like a sketch, not a bad thing. It's still pretty good.

I like the colors you've used, in combination with the light. The shading is pretty good and it's easy to see where the lightsource is. The colors really help out with that. Only problem I have with shading si his neck. Is it shaded or is it supposed to be black?

I'm not a big fan of the light outline of the character either. I full sized it, and saw that there was a face in his horn. I'm not sure I like the fact that this is somewhat see-through and that you can see something in the back.

Absurd

Kind of creepy. I just let my thoughts wander to Black Sheep. Just switch ou the Sheep with Pigs.

I like the idea of it. Something occult over it. I'm not sure what's up with the sword, but I like the whole mind-control.

It is a bit simple, could do with some shading as there is non right now. I like the feathers and the wings.

The sword lacks detail and looks a bit messed up, not exactly the sharpest sword I've seen.

Also, the ears don't really look like pig ears, but more like... pigtails?

Okay shading

I'd like to see some better shading here. It's hard to tell where the lightsource is, so some more prominent shading would be nice.

It's also very smooth, could do with some more textures on the sking. The hand is okay, but something about it is off. I'd like a proper background too, seeing as you already do have something in the back.

Thanks for the critique. I did notice everything you mentioned, and I'm surprised you were able to pick out everything I felt was unfinished or rushed. To be honest I kind of gave up on this piece because the friend I was doing it for never accepted the first sketch and so I halfheartedly finished it. Again, thanks for the helpful critique.

Neat

I absolutely do like it, it's very well done. Very neat, very simple and easy.

The coloring is wel done, but I'd like som more textures. Everything is just that sleek right now, smoother than a baby's bottom.

A background would be nice too.

emukid responds:

thankyou and baww man i do need to work on textures, i just enjoy shiny :D

haha i suck at backgrounds but it would look nice your right, i think this just took so long i just gave it a ...boring background, i didn't want it to take away the detail in the image.

Oh God

I really can't stand LMFAO, oh god.

The pixel art here is pretty damn neatly done. I really like your shading, that's often somewhat difficult to make look good. Also like the detail on the outfits aand the way you did the brunette dude's hair.

And of course, the mario's don't make it worse, though the feet look a bit weird.

DarkArtisan responds:

I hate feet lol :) Thanks for the feed back. <3

Wow

Didn't realize how detailed this was untill I Full sized it. Wow, absolutely amazed at the amount of detail!

I'm not a FF fan, but I can appreciate the style. Your coloring is really good, and the shading is pretty damn impressive as well.

And of course, the pose doesn't hurt :P

Nice

That's a pretty neatly drawn piece, and neatly animated.

Not sure how I feel about the background moving, though. I don't think making this into a gif was necessary at all.

The colors are simple, which isn't a bad thing, it works with your style on this piece. the shading could probably be a bit better, it's very simple. It's there, and that helps.

I'm guessing this is a statement of sorts, about the modern society. I like how you did it.

Very nice coloring

I think that's what I like the most about this. The coloring you've done. Simple colors on the palette with different shades of brown.

The attention to detail on the character is also pretty amazing, combined with the shading, it looks very professional. The only problem I have with it is that the face looks odd. I can't put my finger on it, but there's something off about it.

Niecly done on adding that background as well, even without much detail it really adds depth to the piece.

Needs practice

It's not a bad piece, but there are some things you should practice on.

Most importantly, the shape of his head. It looks extremely large. I guess that is because you're trying to do this portrait with the character having his head turned just a tad. The neck is also very, very large, it looks like his neck is as big as his head, basically.

You should also do some work on the shading. It's not very good as is, shading should be more gradual instead of having a hard line where it's shaded.

IloveNantes responds:

Hmm, alright. Although I'd have to say that I copied the shading exactly as it was from the Pride and Prejudice's first episode. But you're right because I added in the additional values myself. Also, there were originally some shading everywhere but the scanner zapped that. :/

And his neck is a bit thinner than that, he has a whole lot of fabric wrapped around it, I think that was in the reference I used. You won't be able to find the exact picture, I don't think, because I have the DVD and paused it to work on the piece. I would zoom in every few minutes to stop the DVD from resetting.

Thanks for the review. I think that the skull is large, too, and I finally 100% noticed it when you said so. I had already thought something was wrong with it. Again, thanks for the review. Every bit counts.

Twisted

Actually made me giggle. I've only seen a few episodes of Star Trek, but I remember all of these easily.

I'm a pretty big fan of pixel art, I like the simple style. With this piece, I like the originality and choice of colors for the different characters.

Also enjoy the simple background and the twisted look on everyone's face. That smile, same smile on every single one. Looks like they're hiding something.

I like it when people call me bro.
