As with all that I've listened to so far, your guitar skills are pretty impressive. The melody on this feels very relaxing, it's all just very soft and nothing ever feels rushed or pushed out. I'd love to hear this on top of some backing ambience, though I'm not sure what would fit best. And of course there's the issue of static that also made it into the recording and somewhat ruined the atmosphere you wanted to create.

gamejunkie responds:

Thanks. The static at the beginning and the end sucks, but we couldn't be stuffed removing it. I know, shame, shame, shame. Once again, if you feel you can add to this track, let me know and I will see what I can do about organizing something. I can add you to Credits now, if you do. Thanks again for enjoying it and for the great review.

Cheers gamejunkie.

Really well composed track. Using multiple instruments and some percussion to really set the tone and bring out an amazing, relaxing atmosphere. I'd imagine this as a magical forest, peaceful valleys and little villages.

My biggest issue is that the ending doesn't do the piece justice. It just feels like the track got cut off a bit early, and it doesn't sound like a proper ending to me.

Wow. Just wow. I'll be surprised if this doesn't win the entire competition. I say that before checking out all of the competition, because I doubt much can trump this piece, it's well done from beginning to end, and I can't find any flaws with it. It just sounds so majestic, so professionally done, nothing like anything I'd expect from the AP.

It really fits the title. It certainly would fit in well with scenes of destruction, the desperate last minutes, the struggle to survive, and so on.

I'm listening to it for a second time now, just wanting to get the feel of it while writing this down. I especially notice that your entire range of samples are amazing, and the composition is simply amazing. The percussion really drives the track forward and provides a real good ground for the song. That, and they add to this grandiose feel I get from it, it really feels absolutely huge.

This one's going straight to my favorites.

EvilRaccoon responds:

Thanks SoapBubble really glad you enjoyed it, i think there could be a better buildup in areas, so it's something I should consider. I think with the competition so full throttle this time, I actually think there are other tracks that are just far more intricate than mine, and so much more than what I did easily deserving higher places. However I really am really pleased that you enjoy my tracks. :)

Thanks again! :D

The intro to this reminds me of Fable. Well, the entire track does. I'm not sure why, but it just really does.

And I really thoroughly enjoy this. It creates an amazing magical and relaxing atmosphere, I'd say the vocal samples really help do that. THe track is very short, I feel this could've easily been at least a bit longer. I can't shake how much this reminds me of the first Fable, the early years with no danger and everything is just very harmonic.

mmoscat responds:

Hey! Thanks so much for your comment :-D

If it reminds you of Fable that's a good thing! Fable's score was definitely a great one... I agree with you that it could have been a longer piece, perhaps I should do a different version and lengthen this piece a bit!

I am extremely impressed. This really fits with the story you've typed out as well.

The composition is really really good. Orchestration is amazing, and every single sample used sounds absolutely perfect! The track is highly varied, but never to the point that it sounds like multiple tracks mashed together. This is definitely because of some amazing transitions. The ending is absolutely amazing, really feels majestic, but I do feel it could've had just a tad more power to it.

Bosa responds:

I feel the same way actually, now that you mention it. I tried to keep the whole song subtle, but perhaps it was too light at the end. I'm working on Hollywood Brass right now, so I guarantee you that my tracks will have more force in the future.

Now this one's funky. More funky that any of the previous tracks I've heard, definitely. I love the bass and drums on this one. This is something I would expect to hear in an 80s kid action flick or something. 90s kid action maybe. I'm talking TMNT-style here.

I do feel you could've upped the volume of the drums a bit, they do get drowned out very quickly. I agree that they shouldn't sound too prominent, but they should definitely be a bit more clear than currently. Love the part where the bass and guitar plays along. Overall a real funky, cool track!

gamejunkie responds:

Thank you very much. So glad you liked it. I hope your liking the variety of music we are providing. And its all real too, nothing electronic or fake. Got to love the purity of real instruments.\

Thanks for the great review.
Cheers GJ.

This really reminds me of something my dad would listen to, or something I'd listen to about four years back or so. It really has that 70s/80s rock feel over it.

I think this is the first piece from you I've heard with a proper band, with drums, bass and lead. I quite enjoy it, you lot seem to work nicely together.

I liked the intro, nice amount of build-up before the track got proper started. The drums could probably be a bit more varied, they do sound a bit dull after some time, would be nice to hear some variations coming out of the rhythmics. Same really goes for bass, currently it provides a really nice ground for the lead guitar to work on, but it's a bit boring itself. I guess that's somewhat normal for this kind of music, but you might want to consider it?

The lead though sounds really amazing, some great solos, nice control of the guitar. And lastly, of course, I need to mention the sound quality, which isn't the best. I'd love to see what you could do in a proper recording environment with a band like this.

gamejunkie responds:

Thanks SB. You really know your stuff. So get this. Every instrument used on this track is a 1970's bought instrument, maybe that's why it sounds the way it does. But your ear is ridiculously good. Also keep in mind this was just an impromptu session recorded in my lounge room into a shitty Zoom Midi-Controller, hence the sound quality. Written and first played over 30 years ago. The drummer and the bass player wont be happy!!! LOL. If only you knew.

Cheers gamejunkie.

As with the last piece I reviewed, I find this one to be really relaxing and comforting. It's early in the morning, and this fits along with exactly what I listen to whenever I have my coffee.

It's relaxing, it's calming, it's also quite beautiful. I really enjoy the melody in this track, as with the last one. I do feel you could've added a bit more of a bassline to this one. Also not too sure about the ending, it felt a bit pieced up like you didn't really know how to end it?

Other than that, lovely little piece.

gamejunkie responds:

Thanks SB, I'm glad your liking these. I just had a feeling you would! And again, this is a single acoustic guitar. Just very well pIayed and I will admit, not by me. This was played by a good friend who is not an NG'er and wish to remain nameless, but I have his full approval to submit this. And I agree the ending is a little slow/choppy in finishing, but it was fully intended to be like that.

Thanks again, glad you enjoyed.

Very relaxing, very comforting piece.

Big difference for me coming directly from your jams to this, when this is such a laidback, more quiet piece of guitar beauty. I really like the fact that there's a very soft bassline following the main melody that isn't even that easily noticed, it just fills in the track.

The melody is very charming, and very well written. You've really got an ear for this type of music. Would be nice to hear what kind of lyrics you wanted to add on top of it.

gamejunkie responds:

Thanks SB. I had a feeling you would like this one. And you wont believe this, but there is no bass backing, it's just one guitar, one very expensive, very very good quality acoustic guitar. One decent string pluck and it will sing for over a minute. How cool is that? And with this track we never intended for it to have lyrics, but if you can come up with something let me know and we will see what we can do about adding it. That applies to anyone reading this reply. And to any of my audio submissions. I would love to hear what you guys come up with.

Thanks for another awesome review,
Cheers gamejunkie.

Nicely done! These are some really really cool riffs, I could definitely see this being turned into a proper song. This might be my favorite out of your jam uploads. Real flow to the guitar, apart from maybe a minor hiccup here and there, but that's nothing to pick on.

I'd love to hear a finished version of this. Currently the audio quality kind of ruins it a bit, and the static/noise isn't really that nice. Let me know if you finish this up with vocals, bass and solos!

Cheers
K

gamejunkie responds:

Thanks again SB. This is a track that will definitely be finished off. Just got to get everyone back together again. And that's not an easy thing to achieve, considering who these friends of mine are. But I will let you know when it's done.

Cheers gamejunkie.

I like it when people call me bro.
