Oh snap

Score: 10 / 10
Summary: Oh snap
Review: BRAIN GOES AXPLOD.

I really want to end this review with that one line, but I have to write something constructive for it to follow the rules. Bah.

This was awesome. I loved the glitching, the rough sound, and the way it never became repetitive. Some generic sounds in the rhythm section, but god damn, this was fricken AWESOME!

Thanks, I tried to avoid that bland generic industrial they have these days...

Heh, cheesy

Score: 9 / 10

Review: That said, it doesn't necessarily have to be a bad song.

First off, I didn't really like the instrument you used for a melody. I'm not sure what else would fit, but to me it sounded too synthetic.

This would fit straight into an 80s or 70s (not really sure when this music was popular) soap opera, with two people on a date. Yeahyeah. I like to visualize things when listening to songs.

Anyways, I'm not sure what to say. The thing that pulled it off was the instrument playing the melody. But even that grows on me after a while. Relaxing, mellow, excellent stuff, but it lacks that little something.

Hmm, I didn't notice the horn being too fake until now - thanks for pointing that out!

Repetitive

===============
Score: 8 / 10
Summary: Repetitive
Review: Not a bad track, but the fact that it feels really repetitive really pulls the score down.

True, the song does change a lot, but it steel feels really repetitive. Maybe because of the drums, which seem to never change, that I can hear, and the song is so long that it's really easy to hear that it's repetitive. You can easily cut a lot of this song.

I liked the guitar, that was pretty well-done. The sound was still pretty boring, but it sounded experimental, relaxing, sort of ambient.

Not a good outro, and an okay, but short, intro. Fading out is baaaad.

Sawdust responds:

Alright, I'll probably remove the fade then, and give the outro a very abrasive revision.

THIS IS CRAZILY CATCHY

Review: No shit.

But really, it's awesome. I loved it. I hate reviewing awesome stuff, because it's so hard, because it's hard to write bad about awesome stuff. Here goes!

Uhm...
So....
That's right!
I'm going with Fro, love the voice. Could also add what he said, some voices saying "Hardcoarh" or sumthing like that. So...

Great sound. Entertaining, not repetitive, maaaybe a little generic samples, generic sounds, but I guess that's a part of the genre.

Hahah, thanks alot for your great review!

Well, since two persons says it fits with a male saying "hardcore" I may check how it sounds to it.

Yeah, some generic sounds and samples, but its pretty hard to do anything about it, especially in this genre.
Thanks again for your review :)

Huh, nostalgi-WHOAAA

Review: The intro really made me feel nostalgic, even though I barely played games back when I was young. I'm still young, heck!

When the bass set in, that feeling disappeared. But I really liked it. That grainy bass was awesome. So unexpected, so great!

This needs to be in a game. It does. Or a flash movie. Something like that. I love the rhythms, and the melody, both of which never really sound repetitive at all. Good job! I'm adding this to favorites. Despite it having a fade-out, which sucks.

Really entertaining!

===============
Score: 9 / 10
Summary: Really entertaining
Review: Sounds like an old love song or something. A good thing!

The intro sounds too sudden, but you've explained that, so no minus there. The outro is really poor, fading out is a cheap way to end songs. It's like a shortcut, it's easier, but not as safe, and there's a reason why it doesn't follow the road.

All in all, it's a good song. There were only a few parts that I didn't really like, where the guitar kinda crashed with the background.

Still, an all-in-all great song, that'd actually fit to some romantic-ish lyrics. Or some really, REALLY cheesy lyrics.

mistermurfi responds:

Ahhh a 9 woohoo :D fading out meh i guess its just really the easy way to end a song sorry :p haha i promise next submission wont fade out just for you ;)

Im glad you liked it im gonna assume the point from 38 to 50 you didnt like dunno what came over me there bit of fret tapping out of key but didnt bother recording again cuz i liked most of the rest of it and seein as its improv another take may have came out quite differently :p

it is an 80's thin lizzy/gary moore song hence the cheesey/romance feel to it :p

Certainly original

Score: 7 / 10
Summary: Certainly original
Review: This is a nice track. It's repetitive, even though it's short.

The fact that it's repetitive and short makes it sound half-assed, which is a really bad thing. You should edit the bg music and rhythms, and make sure you can hear the guitar well, because at some times it was overpowered by the bg.

Still, the biggest sinner is the repetitiveness. It really makes the song boring, even though the mellow and relaxing sound really is something I'd love.

mistermurfi responds:

Half assed is right i literally spent 5 minutes on this from start to finish was just something i done for fun and to do something a bit different than the other things id put up

it was more just an experiment of the tone and delay effect really but thanks for the review on it :D

Sloppy at times, but great improv

===============
Score: 8 / 10
Summary: Sloppy at times, but great improv
Review: The second half did really get a lot more sloppy than the first, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good.

It really was a good track, even though you say you used a bad cable, which would explain the static at points. I still think that there are some notes that are a little off.

Reviewing improvs are really hard, as they don't go like regular songs. They usually don't have much structure, and they're, well, improvised, meaning they're not thoroughly planned.

I'm surprised at some of the melodies, one at about 1:30, I think, sounded pretty much flawless.

mistermurfi responds:

8/10 not bad at all thank you very much :D

sloppy at times - yeah it is a bit sloppy alright i agree but hopefully i will improve on these and be better at picking out the right notes and melodys guess its just practise i need but dont get too much of that atm

i appreciate that it can be hard to review an improv lead guitar but on this track i also done the backing myself too tho :D

thanks for the review :D

Great lyrics, great song.

===============
Score: 9 / 10
Summary: Great lyrics, great song.
Review: There is only one thing keeping you from a 10/10 here.

Songs on NG with vocals usually fail badly, but this was not half-bad. Which is that little thing keeping you from the 10/10. The talking in the beginning and at transitions in the song sounds great. I really liked it, and it fit well. Especially with the words being uttered.

The singing voice, however, sounded half-assed. Add some emotion, and make sure it isn't overpowered. I could barely hear it.

Rhythm, melody, both great, and I don't really get the feeling that they're repetitive either, so good job with that.

Jirohbomb responds:

Damn Garageband always messes up vocals in songs, so that unfortunately I can't fix. Also cheap mics sometimes don't pick up emotion, so that is also I can't fix. And I didn't know that vocal songs on NG fail pretty badly, maybe I just listen to too many instrumentals.

I like it when people call me bro.
