Well-made

===============
Score: 8 / 10
Summary: Well-made
Review: This would fit perfectly as background music.

I pretty much like the whole song, with the possible exception of the instrument that comes in around 0:40. It just doesn't really fit in with the feel of the song.

It's got the war-feel over it, and I guess that's what you wanted, and you made that happen. well done! Sadly, it is a little repetitive. Even if it's bg-music, it needs to change once in a while, so you should absolutely do something about that.

Intro was a great build-up to the start of the song, and transitions were exquisite. However, the ending wasn't very good. If this is background-music that'll play all throughout a game, it will prbably loop, so you should look at that.

Good instruments, and a nice usage of a voice in there. Could possibly use it even more, but it isn't necessary at all, it'd just make the song a little cooler.

This is sick!

Review: Oh god, this is one of the awesomest tracks I've heard on NG!

It's fast-paced, it's hyperactive, and it's an all over fun song to listen to. The track that won in the contest must've been amazing, because this was awesome. I'm surprised it didn't win anything.

Loved the drums and especially the melody. The glitching was incredible, fit perfectly into the song.

I'm really at a loss for words. You know, it's much easier to review a bad song, but when they're this good, it's hard to find anything bad to say.

Loved the intro, loved the transitions, and loved the ending. Great job!

Nice use of glitches

Score: 9 / 10
Summary: Nice use of glitches
Review: I really liked your use of glitches, even though they, at times, threw me off.

Really a great track, not as relaxing as your other one, but still a great song.

I like the intro, and I love it when we first hear the glitching. Took me by surprise, and that's usually a good thing. It was a bit overdone at times, but still, very well used.

I actually liked the outro, thought it might've ended a little sudden. I'm not sure what you could do to fix it or make it better, so you might as well just leave it as is. The transitions were, as far as I could hear, pretty, much flawless.

Great instruments, love the background tune and the piano, and the rhythm ws great, especially when combined with the glitch.

Review: This was just... amazing.

Fast paced rhythm with a nice melody, combined with a relaxing background tune playing throughout the whole song.

There's a great intro, but the outro wasn't as good. Too sudden ending.

Great choice of instruments, both drums and piano, as well as the ambient background. The rain SFX in the beginning was also great, really relaxing. Could wish for a little more variation in the drums, but that's not really too important.

Nice melody

Score: 8 / 10
Summary: Nice melody
Review: It seems like a lot of your songs are a little overpowered. Might wanna do something about that.

On to the actual review: A nice melody, I like the combination of guitar and piano. The rhythm isn't bland and generic, it's pretty cool, absolutely. Not too repetitive either.

The biggest problem with the song is the mixing. Sounds overpowered, and the melody needs to be underlined. It should be more prominent than it is already. I don't think you have to change the instrument, but just make it clearer.

The melody is my favorite of mine yet!
yes, i am fully aware of the melody problems. I'm just waiting to buy the Premium edition of my DAW to really remaster everything. But, i'll think about remastering early...
Thanx for the review.

Cool, but slightly overpowered

===============
Score: 8 / 10
Summary: Cool, but slightly overpowered
Review: A really cool track, but overpowered bass, and there is some static.

I love the melody in the track. I really do. Even with the static, which must be the mixing, it's still really cool. Repetitive, yes, but catchy, something that'll be stuck in my head for some time.

Also, there's no need for making these kind of songs so long. They easily get repetitive, so I think you should set the standard length of your songs at least one minute lower. That way you'll easily avoid making them so repetitive.

DJ-Chilvan responds:

wow, shortening my songs is very true. I never really thought about it that way. Maybe its because i'm used to freestylin and all that stuff (a two minute track aint good for freestyling). But your advice is A+. Thanx. I'm pretty sure that 'static' is actually the rain effects I put in.
Thanx.

Bongo? AWESOME!

===============
Score: 9 / 10
Summary: Bongo? AWESOME!
Review: Seriously, the usage of bongo drums themselves give you an extra point!

Which makes this a solid 9/10. Trance is supposed to be repetitive, and it's supposed to make people move, but I'd still wish for some more variation at least in the drums. The rhythm got really repetitive after a while, and same really goes for the melody.

Melody was really great, though. I'm pretty much sure it'll be stuck in my head for quite some time. Especially considering it's been on repeat the last fifteen minutes.

DJ-Chilvan responds:

haha, its like the bongos were the attractive feature in this track along with the melody. I liked the bongos too. Actually, it was supposed to be some shakers but after exporting the track, the shakers would fuck up the production for some odd reason =/. So, i switched over to bongos and now everyone is lovin it. That's why I say for every disappointment, there's a blessing.
Thanx for the review yo!

Best of the bunch

===============
Score: 9 / 10
Summary: Best of the bunch
Review: The bunch of songs that you requested, that is.

Really liked this one a lot. It gets repetitive, but I hear that's usual in Trance. I love the rhythms, and instruments/melodies, especially the strings, but everything gets repetitive after a while. Which I already mentioned.

Nice introduction. Good buildup, and the transitions are pretty good as well. Smooth.

All-round a really good track, that shoould have some more varied drums, and a little more varied melody.

Outro sounds outstanding, as well. Love that effect at the end. Makes my floor shake. =D

Well-done trance

===============
Score: 8 / 10
Summary: Well-done trance
Review: I keep hearing "Trance is supposed to be repetitive", but is that necessary?

Some of the parts were repeated over and over, to the point where it wasn't something I could even "dig". I'm biased, though.

The rhythms are good, absolutely, but really repetitive, except for in transitions (which are great), but the melody is pretty much all the same all over. You should cut at least one minute off the song, as it's not necessary. Try some moer effects (sound effects), other instruments and a few other rhythms.

A quality track, absolutely good. At least, I think so.

EoD696 responds:

Well, my friend, I imagine the reason you don't dig it is because you're looking at it the wrong way. You want to see trance as though it were any other pop genre, built with a certain construction that makes it recognizable. But trance is, as are many electronica styles, more...free form, so to speak. Mainly it depends upon progression throughout the song, however, just about any sort of organizational pattern is game, even the overtly used pop ones. I can't speak for all who listen to trance, but one the of the reasons I dig it so much is because I like taking it apart; analyzing each sound on its own with its own progression, one by one, and hearing them all alone, as well as all together at the same time. Sounds trippy, but if you give it a shot, it's pretty frkin cool. Infected Mushroom is insane man...I'm tellin you.

Not what I expected - at all

Review: Great instruments, but a horrible voice.

Honestly, the guitar is great, and the drums sound fine, even though everything is off-beat at times, but the vocals are absolutely horrible. I'm not sure if that's what you were going for, but it's VERY unflattering. Comedic relief, sure.

You should work on your voice. I see that you tried to "make it lower". I suggest you just go with what is easier to you, as it'll probably sound better then. And, better recording tools.

A great song, needs some work on mixing and some work on vocals, and we'll see great results.

Thanks for the cool review! I'll redo these vocals sometime.
