I have come to expect a bit more from the SS. I guess I should stop that. I couldn't agree more though, the new design does look pretty nice.

Little-Rena responds:

I can do better but I haven't had much time, so I threw this together to try out the project system! Not to mention, the first SS flash wasn't great, lol.

Touching.

It's weird how such a simple and short flick can say so much about the creator and invoke so many feelings in the ones watching it.

Though the entire theme of black and white and contrasts between two people in love had been done over and over again, I can say I've never seen anyone go about it the way you did. The fact that two dragons can't touch, and ending up setting himself on fire and killing himself to get to his love is really something. Very touching.

The audio used is IMO not the absolute best you could, though I guess that is dependant on whoever watches this. It was emotional, I just don't feel it the same way others probably do.

Horsenwelles responds:

the audio was a lat minute find, but i thought it fit pretty well. thank you so much for a very descriptive review!

Decent

Not bad, but there are naturally improvements.

The character is all right, but I'd love to see longer flicks with her. And a... deeper character, if I can put it like that, at least more of a personality.

The animations are all right, a bit choppy, and not very natural. That said, with the style of your graphics, I don't think it needs to look natural, it's all supposed to be a bit silly. Would love to see more texture, shading and lighting added though.

Make it longer, too.

SmashX5000 responds:

She'll be given more character as time goes on. There wasn't really much I could do to expand on her character traits in this one. Perhaps it would've been better as a second or third episode. Regardless, I do plan on expanding on her character more, though for these shorts at least she'll be mute.

I will continually try to improve the animation in future episodes too, as well as make episodes longer. This was my first real flash project, so there was sure to be some stuff I messed up on. It'll look more natural (hopefully) in future episodes, while retaining a cartoony feel.

As far the last 3 things, don't really expect much textures in it. I prefer, with cartoons anyways, to work with mostly solid colors. Lighting and Shading may be in some bigger animations, but for this series in particular, I'm not sure if future episodes will include it.

Thanks for the critique.

Never disappoints

Really love this series. I've never been disappointed in your work.

Your style varies a bit from episode to episode, but one thing that is common between all of them is the quality of the work. Clean lines and an amazing style, really incorporating the use of colors with the story and general feel of the flash/comic.

Celx-Requin responds:

Thanks man I really appreciate it!
I'm not really sure what my next project is gonna be, whatever it is I hope you'll tune in :)

Thanks,

All right

Well, it's all right, I suppose, but it has a way high score.

Sure enough the music is pretty cool. The audio quality itself is also quite good. I do like the syncing of the text and the writing in the flash. It's very synced p. I get the whole "THE GAME" references as well, but I honestly grew tired of The Game a couple years ago.

I would like to see more variation though. Jumble the words around, just get some more variation. The one looped scene got really tiresome too.

Punisher responds:

your review got really tiresome.

Well

It shows more effort than the average Clock Day submission, IMO. It actually lasts for more than a couple of seconds, and it quickly describes how the Clock Crew started off, and why the Clock Day is set to this specific date.

Graphics are poor, and I was surprised not to see any clocks at all in this flash. Instead, a poorly drawn penguin. Animations weren't good either, at least the mouthing of the penguin, but I did somewhat like how you played with the writing.

Haggard responds:

Sadly, the badly drawn penguin is the best I can draw, so that's why I will never submit any flash movies besides on clock day.

The missing of clocks isn't exactly true, I had an image of StrawberryClock in the flash! :P

Nice start to a series

Silly humor and simple animations, a nice start with big potential.

I like your style on this one. Very simple, cartoony, and with a touch of silly humor. That combination is, in my opinion, quite promising to a show like this.

The graphics are simple, not a lot of detail and little to no shading. However, with a style like that, it's probably what's best.

The audio isn't the best. The SFX is pretty good, but the voice actors lack enthusiasm, and the microphones aren't the best. Could probably do some more lip syncing too, as it's not the best right now.

When it comes to story, I can see how this'll work out. Can get into quite a lot of funny adventures with these four. Always been a fan of silly animations with silly humor. In this particular one, I really like how you executed it, especially with regards to the punchline. I'm expecting to see the characters develop as you go along, too, which is always important. Which one's the leader, the stupid one, the funny one, etc etc.

GristlyBear responds:

It's simple but also probably the most complicated animation I've done to date, since I experimented with drawing out each frame, then tracing over the images in flash. I'll work on the voice acting, but I'm glad you liked it overall.

Thanks for the review,
webufs.

Wow

I am truly so impressed with this piece. I mean, this isn't Clock Day Flash, yet it is.

The graphics are really, really cool. For the background and the clocks, it has this somewhat cartoony feel to it, and you've also added some depths with lighting and coloring.

The animations are very fluid, looks absolutely amazing, very smooth, never choppy.

And of course, the story is just amazing to me. Tells a really long, detailed story of Strawberry Clock running from death, somewhat symbolic of the Clock Crew's early day, with them evading death from the admins and becoming such an important part of the website.

I certainly don't think this would be the same without the music you've used, I'd think it'd be very different, and certainly not as dramatic, the music itself adding so much to the feel and atmosphere of the flash.

Great work on this.

GLAD YOU LIKED IT!

Not bad

Does it not lie in the spirit of Clock Day to half-ass something a week/day before the Day is upon us?

Anyway, this is a pretty decent flash. Amazing flash if you compare it to most Clock Day flashes out there. I actually tried to write something during the command prompt at the start, not really sure how that related to the movie apart from telling what's going on.

The animation is smooth and graphics are very standard Clock Crew, not much depth or detail, with the simple clock faces. I liked that you put quite a lot of work into the background as RobClock walked down the hallway.

The music is VERY loud, which annoyed me, and hence, the screech at the end didn't really startle me, just annoyed me. Okay punchline to end the flash on.

RobertClock responds:

The thing with the audio is that my computer had to be reformatted, right? So i lost alot of files, including all my music. I had the song in flash, but it can't be exported to be edited, so I had to make due with what i had. :(

Neaters

I'm quite impressed, that in the ocean of shitty flashes submitted on Clock Day every year, there's something clever and funny like this.

Your style is quite simple, not the generic standard clocks, but these seem to be drawn just for this flash. The animations are smooth and nice. I do think that this flash is funnier to those that get the references to Star Trek.

The music you used was obviously enough perfect for the flash. I love the self irony used, don't get that too often from any crew. Really enjoyed your way of telling the story of Clock Day through this flash.

CorpseGrinderClock responds:

Actually the style is based on the old clock .flas made originally by OrangeClock (I think) back in 2001. The line tool and slightly abusive gradient is a feature of the limitations of flash back in that time making it harder to use gradients effectively as today.

I like it when people call me bro.
