Batteries or no batteries, you should've won.

An intensely entertaining and fun track to listen. It figuratively has EVERYTHING, and it works out very well.

Rhythmically, it's varied and generally original. Though some samples were a bit generic, you could pretty much skip from any place to any other place and find different rhythms, which keeps the songg oing without ever making iteven remotely boring.

The melodic part is also extremely varied. A well-balanced mix of different genres, played pretty much on the same instruments (with variation, of course, but the same type of instruments) make a song that isn't cluttered, but sounds very original and works very well throughout a total of four minutes. Everything from the jazzy to the techno...ey parts, were awesome.

You also chose a great way to end the song, with a funny punchline to the entire song. The lyrics are fun, and I did chuckle towards the end. The vocals didn't sound a lot like a robot, and they were somewhat out of tune, but the out-of-tune part did sort of fit very well with the whole robotic theme.

Thanks! We tried to make it as enjoyable and fun as possible!

Exactly what we tried to do :). Yeah the samples were a bit generic but I tried as much layering as I could to make unique sounds. I personally like the lead synth at the beginning, but some people might not like it since it sounds a bit like an organ :3.

That's probably because this is a collaboration between four different people, which means four different opinions, and, since Darklight and I made the melodies, two different melodic styles. I must say that Darklight really did a great job with the melodies ^^.

I personally didn't want to make it sound robotic so it can sound as funny as possible. The ending was Fro's idea, so I'll have to thank him for that, although the speech at the end was mine xD.

Anyway, thanks for the great review!

Immersive.

I found that reading the first paragraph of the author's comment while listening to the intro worked really well. The song really has that somewhat sad but hoping feel to it. "All isn't lost quite yet." This would be a great opening song for a flash movie.

All in all a very simple composition, but very interesting and feels quite immersive to me, even though some parts consist of simply piano playing the melody and the drums playing a rather generic rhythm.

Variation isn't an issue here, you vary it very well throughout the entire song, with different instruments, but not too many and never too cluttered, and the melody change a lot throughout the songs. In many cases the stripped-down sound of the piano playing with the drums could sound bad, but I think you pulled it off neatly. It wouldn't have worked in a different setting.

I do however feel the drums at about 01.00 are slightly out-of-place, because the rhythm is a bit too... I don't know how to put it, groovy? Nah, that's not it. Either way, it's nitpicking and it's pretty much a great track as is. Love the pan!

Thanks, your input is very much appreciated as this is my most appreciated song IMO. Yes, I varied quite a Lot cuz I would have liked this in a flash movie.

Interesting

So, is it a remix, or?

A pretty interesting intro with some neat synths that work well throughout the song. The rhythmics section here at the beginning is also well-made, but it gets very repetitive after not too long due to lack of variation, and this goes on throughout pretty much the entire song.

On the melody side of things, however, variation isn't a problem, as the song varies a lot throughout the entire song, with well-made melodies.

The ending was also very simple, and slightly cheap. I've always felt that the fade-out is a cheap way to end a song, like the easy way out, and this is no different. The rhythm just goes on and doesn't end until it's faded all the way out.

Just get some variation into the rhythmic section and the song'll be a lot better.

I appreciate that. I will be doing a remastered version of all my songs after I learn how to ballance more. I will definately be adding more to the songs so you dont get the same exact song lol. I will fix the errors in this song when that time comes so be on the lookout. Thanks again.

Sounds disturbing, for some reason.

I'm not sure how this has much to say with the oil spill, though.

It's a really relaxing track and it does remind me of water, could be used in some childs games based under water, sure.

However, I don't see how this has much to do with oil spill. It does sound a bit out of tune, like the harmonies are a bit off, at times, which I guess could be a metaphor for the oil, but after reading the reviews, it seems like that wasn't the intention.

It doesn't really loop either, because of the second or two of silence at the end of the track.

Being so short, it's not really possible to get any much repetition, it sounds okay, but had it been longer, it'd easily be a very repetitive track.

I can dig that sidechanging!

Faulty labled as a loop?

It is a generic trance track, but I gotta say, original trance tracks are pretty rare nowadays. At least on NG.

The song lacks a build-up. Well, it lacks intro and outro. What you have for an outro is just the melody fading out while the rhythmic section stays, which seems like a lazy way out. Doesn't sound too good. The intro is fairly non-existant, unless you see the first part of the song as an intro.

After the pause, I'd at first want you to put bass in there the minute it started, but with that ridiculously awesome side-changing, I prefer it the way it is.

Fun, generic metal

This is absolutely some fun music, but it is sorta repetitive and generic. I see you are aware of this.

It does sound a lot like metalcore, but at times the guitar, both lead and backing, gets a bit sloppy. The drums also get repetitive due to lack of change in the rhythm, which could be accomplished by adding a breakdown, or something like that. I was half expecting a breakdown when your song stopped midway. seeing as the guitars didn't stop abruptly, it felt like, as Haggard put it, you forgot the rest of the song.

I hope you'll finish this one, because I'd be interested in seeing the final piece. This one's quite catchy.

leopapitas responds:

Haha thanks. It is something pretty metalcore-esque, but it is very repetitive. I had been considering adding a breakdown in the middle, but back then I didn't like breakdowns that much, lately, I've fallen in love with breakdowns hehe It's not that I forgot, it was meant to be like that, but now that you guys put it that way, it does cut the mood of the song. I guess you guys have given me quite some motivation and probably will start working on it this week as I have quite a lot of free time. I might also change the song drastically, except for the main riff, that stays lol Thanks for cheking it and for the kind words. (: Peace.

Humm

I'm not sure how I feel about this track.

The intro is pretty cool, I really like it, but then again, I'm a fan of ambience.

When the song comes in, the intro hasn't really built up to it, it feels rather detached. I'm glad you used parts of the intro again, or it could've sounded like two completely different songs.

You don't lack variety and the song doesn't get boring, except for on the rhythmic part of things, as the drums in the back rarely change when in use.

The sounds used after 2.20 and a bit before fit well with the name of the song, but I don't see how the sounds used before this go as much with the "Natural" part.

thanks for teh review!

I'm not too good at naming my songs.
I have about 40 on NG so i ran out of ideas :-p

(EDIT : I have about 103 on NG)

Oh man, that's neat

I recently found out that I actually am quite fond of the glitchy genre. There's so much interesting music to be found there.

This being a short track, there's not much that can be said about it. First thing would be to make a longer on. Seeing as this isn't marked as a loop (though it could very well pass as one, even though it would quickly get repetitive), and rather a song, you should add some more to it. Make it last for at least a minute.

The robotic feel you wanted can be heard quite easily. Gotta say I agree with Stargenx that the sounds towards the end doesn't really fit with the rest of the song. The bloops. I guess that's the right word. They don't feel as robotic.

yeah, but did this one as random as possible. Usually have trouble creating tracks past 30 seconds.

Holy crap

That was sick, dude.

It's hard to review works of perfection. Of course it's not perfect, I'm sure, but I can't find anything to complain on.

The most normal complaints, like mixing not being A+, bad samples being used or unoriginality and lack of variations, you've got your bases covered on them.

By using different synths, samples and varying the melody, not drastically, but enough to keep the listener entertained and captivated, you got an absolutely fantastic House track. The bass compliments the melody so perfectly.

Sure, there is some lack of variation around the two minute mark, but this sounds like just... awesome House music. After the halfway mark, the song changes quite drastically, making it easier for you to carry the tune without repeating yourself. just by changing out some sounds.

Damn 0-bombers. This is a 4+ track.

Mans0n responds:

Ah I totally agree with you! and thanks for the kind review man!

I guess it... serves it purpose, almost.

As hardstyle, parts of this song do just fine. Other parts... not so much.

The intro is extremely good, and an ambient song with that same cold feel to it could've ended up really good. However, when the hardstyle factor of the song comes in, you should've dropped that intro completely.

The clap is really poor and cheesy, and should either be left out, or have a better sound to it. The bass and wooshes you've got are really good for hardstyle, but this song doesn't really sound a lot like hardstyle.

When you then try to re-use the intro music throughout the rest of the song, the two genres, ambient and hardstyle, completely clash and make a chaotic tune, not in a good way. Even when it's just the bass and the ambient, it sounds horrible.

The kick should be replaced as well, it's way too sharp.

Lastly, the track is extremely repetitive. It changes very little throughout the song, and even though you try to get some variation in by adding the ambience on top, it doesn't really work out, because you're pretty much just re-using the sound from the beginning of the song.
