Oh, wow. Nine times out of ten anything tagged as Madness in the Under Judgement queue is absolute trash. I've come to always expect it being trash. A 5-10 second clip with choppy fbf animation and two characters fighting and dying.

This, however, makes me excited for the Madness Day content coming up! Music is ace, animation is smooth, there's even a story going on that isn't just your typical Madness killfest.

Jsoull responds:

I'm hoping to set the standard for solo movies, can't wait to see what else MD's got in store for us!

Damn, this is smooth as hell. Not personally a fan of the art style, but it still looks wonderful, and the animations are really great. I wish it was longer, but I can understand that this kind of animation takes a long time, so it might be better to dish them out in shorter cuts like this. Audio levels did seem a bit odd at times, I get that the distant explosions were supposed to be muted, but with a blast able to take out a mountain I feel lik ethere'd be a louder bang and shock following it.

Looking forward to seeing what happens next!

MiltoniusArts responds:

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! :)
Yeah these take time! But once I get more done, I'll have more assets to work with and they'll get done quicker... hopefully! Definitely always room for improvement. With each episode we'll evolve!

I'm not a huge fan of this little flick. I understand that it's heavily focused on getting by through it's story, and I can tell that all the characters here have a good background that's been built up over the course of many, many flash movies I could find right here on NG.

I'm not very interested in it though. THe main thing that's throwing me off is the voice acting. I just can't ignore it. It's not necessarily the worst, the quality of the audio is just fine, but I just don't feel that the voices fit the characters or the setting/time at all in most cases, and it really annoys me. Then comes the fact that I don't feel the artstyle is very appealing, but that's of course personal preference. The animation is completely fine, and the background music and sfx is also very well made/picked.

This one's just not my cup of tea.

Warlord-of-Noodles responds:

Thank you for being objective despite disinterest. Very Mature.

I know the assignment said three scenes and a jump, but I would really have loved to see you finish this one properly. I'm not sure if you were going for something funny, or if having an actual punchline wasn't a part of the assignment, but as it stands, this is fairly dull. Your style and animation is fine, though I'd love to see you do some more work on character models. I usually don't have a problem with lack of details, but seeing the character in profile just made him look really off, probably because you've used straight lines and it's not very clear where his midsection's actually at. The same goes for when he slumps over in the chair.

The SFX you've used is mostly fine, except for the moaning it all fit and had pretty decent quality. Would love to see something a bit longer and with more of a punchline than this one!

Aqlex responds:

Hmm, in my opinion, I did finish the piece as much as I ever meant to. The punchline was really that the fan just didn't help the situation.

What was the problem with the moaning? Did it sound too low quality?

Thank you for the review!

Pretty nice. Interesting little informative video. Really love the voice work, and the simple graphics are just perfect for this kind of thing.

SMKS responds:

Thanks for the feedback great to hear :)

Though the animations look good, as does the style, this is just way too short to even be called a teaser.

aggimajera responds:

Really? I figured short length was an okay thing for a teaser.
Ok, thanks man. I'll keep that in mind for the next one.

Your graphics are all right. I don't really see the point in this for anything other than something like a showreel though.

Stick with this style of art, the animation isn't too bad but still a bit choppy, but that could still work out just fine. Just... some sort of point to the flash would be nice.

fimanimation responds:

It was a quick little animation exercise for myself first and foremost lol but I appreciate the feedback! I'm probably going to pick out a few of the motions in this movie for a showreel

Well, I guess it's somewhat original. I don't really feel it's deserving of the score it currently has though.

THe graphics are good considering the style you're going for. You've got some originality going for you with the "drunk mode" and all that. The music was IMO horrible, but that's a matter of taste so that's not affecting the score I give you. THe quality of it was at least pretty good.

I experienced that the audio and video was at some points out of synch. THis happened on both high and low quality, so it most definitely isn't my computer, which it shouldn't be either way as it's quite powerful.

Having not seen Part A I don't really know the story, but I didn't really find anything to pick up on here either. Just seems like another vid with massive amounts of violence, which gets old.

Ellvis responds:

This video is almost one year old, look at some newer videos.

Trippy. Sure enough you're a terrible animator, but at least it's trippy, right?

Right?

In all honesty the animating is pretty good, as is the graphics. I pretty much know it's you when I see videos like this. I like the trippy style. And the music.

tehslaphappy responds:

Stay in school, don't do hugs.

Could've sworn I'd already reviewed this, but I guess I'd neglected it.

I have to admit that during the first 5-6 seconds of this one, I didn't expect much more than a boring old flash by someone with mediocre skills. It's not one of the graphically best flashes I've seen, and animations aren't AMAZING, but what makes this flash so good, IMO, is the... "story"? Plot? I don't know what to call it. The absurdity and random nature of the flash is just really really amazing. I also love the music choice, really goes well with the flash. Did you pick the music first and make the flash based on that or the other way around?

The flash could definitely do with a bit better graphics, but it really doesn't harm it much, considering the style and the fact that this is nothing but a fun little flash with little to no meaning.

Brewster responds:

Thanks for the review!

Yeah I wouldn't call it a story, it's more of just a turn of events. I think when I was looking for music I had an idea of what I wanted to animate, but when I found the music it allowed me to figure out what was actually going to happen in the cartoon. So it was kinda a little bit of both. Thanks again!

I like it when people call me bro.
