This looks seriously menacing. I can really only tell one thing I don't like, and that's the wrapping in the bottom part of the screen. Looks a bit fuzzy and the texture seems a bit off. In general the lines aren't the greatest on the bandages.

But holy crap other than that I love it. Gives off a grea vibe too, awesome coloring.

Damn, this looks amazing. I think what I like the most is your use of strong colors and shading. And of course, the concept of it all is pretty damn sweet. Took a while before I managed to see what it was, but after looking at it for some time, I see so much detail.

kiareri responds:

Thank you! I was wanting the viewer to stare at it for a while! So you did exactly what I wanted.

Really love your attention to detail here. The lines on the robot, all looks so natural and real. Coloring and shading is well done, I'd like to see more of a background, but this looks really good.

ZaneZansorrow responds:

I maybe not the most creative when it comes to background but I'll improve on that evidently so thanks :)

Well, it's all right.

It's a very very simple piece. Apart from the face, there's not much I like. The hands and fingers look really badly done, and you can easily see joints and the points where the limbs connect by the sharp edges and lines. Try to smooth these out a bit. The stomach and chest looks awful deformed, and I feel you could've been a bit more precise with the lines on his chest.

The eyes, hair and mouth don't look too bad, this easy and rather simple style could fit in a cartoon or something like that. I'd also like to mention that the body seems very out of proportions, and very asymetrical in that one side is wider than the other.

Also no fan of speech bubbles. Ever.

PlusPlusKid responds:

Thanks bubble. I'll try to try better next time. :)

Unlike your Viking piece, this one seems a bit more out of place. It's quite obvious that it's 3D without even zooming in, so the "old" look that you're going for kind of clashes a bit with that, in my opinion of course.

Either way, the character itself is very well drawn, from the gown to the staff and the face. It really looks what I'd see as a wizard or a druid of sorts. I'm not too sure about this filter you run it through though. I see how you want it to seem more natural, but it makes it somewhat hard to make it out very well. I for one would love to see more of an environment around him, a background.

samulis responds:

I originally designed the scene to be the wizard on top of a mountain, but I moved the camera around a bit and eventually settled on this angle for the shot... I decided the ruined columns would suffice as some grounding instead of just clouds and bland hillside. I cannot exactly fix the issue that it looks 3Dish, but as it is a work designed to be made in a fictional land, such concepts of prospective are not completely impossible, especially if you have magicians. :D

Thank you, though for pointing that out and giving some feedback on the composition and such, that's just what I need. :)

I can't really find anything to pick on here.

The character design for each of these three gives them a personality just by looking at them. Tomboy, a bit of an alternative good girl, and an emotional reckless one.

The coloring isn't the most interesting, but it goes well with the somewhat simple style. There's not that much attention to details in this, it is a rather flat design, but with the use of shading you sort of bring them to life. I guess if there was something to pick on it would be the posture of the emotional chick. It just seems unnatural, not like she's unsatisfied with something, but rather like she's acting like she's mad and it's not really going that well.

The background could probably be something more interesting, but seeing as this is just a sample of thes three, it works out well.

One thing I really feel I can applaud is your attention to these minor details, broken window, text on the different screens and so forth. The lack of detail in the general background could probably be attributed to the rain, I assume that's what it is. Would be nice to see something like puddles, as it's obviously raining in through the broken window, or something like that.

Your shading is really well done, and I like the color scheme you went for. I would like to see this a bit more refined, if you know what I mean? It's pretty obvious where the brushes or colors have been changed, and a bit more of a gradient coloring would be nice, slowly going from shadow to light and such.

Also, is that a gun leaning on the wall behind her, or just a part of the building?

Lintire responds:

The minor details are apparently a big hit. I'll have to include them in future paintings and also more details. Personally I wouldn't opt for puddles so much as general wetness, because just looking at the pictures and how puddles of water look, it'd look lame. Not really lame, but fairly lame. Puddles itself is a lame word.

And I totally dig what you mean by refined. I have a real problem with tightening up pictures because it takes a while and I don't tend to give a shit about the final product, but just looking at it this is really a picture that would benefit from a little tightening.

What's funny is that I used the same brush throughout. What you're referring to is value though, and I totes flunked at least a bit of that. Working on it, though, so glad to know it wasn't too terrible.

And yeah, that's a gun of sorts. Or perhaps its a piece of building that fires bullet things. IMAGINATION!

(also thanks for the review, totes helpful)

Angry?

Well, it's a funny comic, but to me it's nothing more. Of course the way you went about presenting it fits well, the C&H-style characters and so forth, but other than that it's just a regular old comic to me, and it didn't really make me laugh. Just a small smile. Tiny.

Well done!

I'm really impressed at how you made this look like a painting even though it's a 3D piece. I'm not sure if it looks very old, even though it's very flaky around the edges I'd expect to see more deterioration off an old painting. Especially in the colors, they should probably have faded a bit more than they look on the shields, for instance.

You seem to have pretty much nailed the architecture, the landscape seems a bit odd, feels more like a southern look to it with the spread out bushes and such. It's hard to tell whether the ground is sand or dirt. I'd love for you to add in a couple of people to the painting, if the ship just docked I'd expect there to be people running around with whatever the ship brought with it.

Generally a really good piece though.

samulis responds:

Thanks, I might try adding some people... I don't have a very good array of characters though.

Apparently this is already in my favorites, but I feel I need to write something here.

A very ominous feel to this, IMO. I love the color scheme and the shading you've done with this. I'm not entirely certain whether this gives me the chills or if it's cold in here. The surprisin detail in it as well, in spite of the somewhat... I don't know what to call it, the look when the lines aren't necessarily straight and the coloring crosses the lines a bit.

I'm just rambling on, I LOVE THIS.

I like it when people call me bro.
